Do it yourself grooming

They say we have 3 seasons here in western Colorado – summer, winter and mud.  Each presents its unique challenges for the dogs who share our lives.

Summer:  hot, dusty, stickers and (some places) bugs.  Winter:  ice, hidden hazards under the snow, cold.  Mud:  mud, skunks, mud…

At High Tails we have what you need to meet these challenges.  Your dog can enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle and still look, smell and feel wonderful enough to share your sofa – IF you take advantage of our do-it-yourself grooming and bathing facilities.

The only thing you have to bring is the dirty dog!

We’ve got 3 wash stations, each with an automatic bathing wand which mixes the high-quality, all natural shampoo with warm water and aerates it for a comfy massaging wash.  Use conditioner if you like, towel dry and finish with the high-power blow dryer.  Use our grooming table for prep and final polish – it adjusts to comfortable working height with the touch of a pedal.

We have ear cleaner, special shampoos and conditioners, brushes, combs, nail clippersclipping/ and various shedding tools – and we can show you how to get great results every time.

Bath prices include all products and use of hand tools and table.  There’s no limitation on time or quantity.

Small dogs:  $12  (under 25 lbs)

Medium:      $16 (25 – 55 lbs)

Big dogs:     $20  (55 – 100 lbs)

BIG DOGS  $23  over 100 lbs

Nail trims              $5 when we do it  We’ll be happy to show you how

Groom your dog using our equipment!  Clippers, blades, shears, thinners, strippers and the adjustable height table rent for $15 per hour.*  Extend the life of each professional groom, or do it all, if you know how.

Want to learn to clip and groom you dog?  We’ll teach you.  One on one instruction is available for $50 per hour, by appointment.  Special rates for 4-H kids.  It’s so satisfying to groom your own dog.  Why not find out if you like it?  Learn how, then use our equipment before purchasing your own.

No appointment is necessary to bathe your dog.  To reserve the clipping/grooming station and tools, you can call first.

Just adopted a dog or puppy?  The first welcome home bath at High Tails is free when you adopt from a shelter or rescue group.

Cats are welcome, too – but you may want to call and let us set up a dog-free zone for washing and grooming your kitty.
