Product of the Month -- AFS (Animal Food Service) - Frozen Raw Meat Diets for Dogs and Cats.

During the last 30 years, while dog and cat food manufacturers have been striving to produce an optimal diet for pets in a kibble or canned form, AFS has been producing specialized diets for captive wild canines and felines in zoos, and for breeders of dogs and cats who have not been satisfied with the results of feeding processed foods. The theory is simply that carnivores – dogs and cats – are equipped to thrive best on a raw meat diet.

Recently, veterinary nutritionists and “ordinary” veterinarians have taken a new look at the idea – and – the results. They’re seeing fewer “allergies” and food sensitivities, more vigor, virtually no obesity, tartar-free teeth and fresher breath. AFS diets consist of ground muscle meat, fat, bone, and organ meats from grass-fed cattle. The canine diet contains parts of the digestive tract and contents, whereas the feline diet does not, since cats do not eat those portions of their prey.

AFS makes it convenient to feed frozen raw beef by packaging it in 6 pound rolls of half pound patties, and by making a freeze-dried version for those times when you don’t have time to thaw or are on the road with your pet. A more economical 5 pound sleeve saves you money for doing your own cutting into portions. You can feed AFS as the entire diet or continue to feed some processed food.

Our 14 year old cat, Juniper, was pre-diabetic and needed veterinary dental work twice a year.
